Owner, Registered Psychologist “Getting to know my clients better so we can work as a team to reach their goals will always be the basis for starting a life of wellness. Serenity Now rooted from the desire to not only be my own boss, but to be a witness to the remarkable successes of my clients.” Tessa began her career at the University of Calgary. Completing her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, she started to work with children with learning disabilities. Tessa chose to continue her education, and obtained a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology at Campus Alberta – a collaborative program with the University of Calgary, University of Lethbridge and Athabasca University. Beliefs and Values Human nature is based on the premise that every behaviour has a functional purpose, though it may not always feel that way. Tessa see’s that humans are hardwired to protect themselves, enabling them to create elaborate defense mechanisms. Often times, people seek counselling due to behaviour that doesn’t feel functional. These behaviours can create stress and discomfort, however, they did serve the purpose of defending you from real or perceived threats. Tessa values the support her clients are given throughout their journey, and hopes to help them understand the feelings that don’t feel natural, and bring them closer to seeing their feelings ‘once functional’ purpose. Tessa wants all her clients to look at themselves and their habits with love and without judgment.
