Nya is a Master’s student in the School and Clinical Child Psychology program at the University of Alberta, with a strong foundation in working with children and youth across educational, sport, and community settings. Her experiences have shaped her commitment to equity, inclusivity, and strength-based approaches, and have deepened her understanding of the diverse needs of the individuals and families she supports.
Nya is particularly interested in motivation and how it can be leveraged to support student engagement, learning, and overall well-being in both general and special education contexts. She brings a collaborative and empathetic approach to her work, striving to create supportive environments where individuals feel understood, capable, and empowered to grow.
She completed her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Psychology at Thompson Rivers University, where she was also a university athlete on the women’s basketball team. Her background in athletics continues to influence her work, reinforcing the value of resilience, teamwork, and personal development. Nya is passionate about giving back to her community and is dedicated to helping individuals build on their strengths while setting meaningful goals for growth and development.
