Nik completed his bachelor of Kinesiology and certificate in Athletic Therapy from York University. He went on to complete a MSc in Physiotherapy from McMaster University in 2011. Since then, he has practiced primarily in sports medicine, starting at Toronto FC (TFC) during the development of the clubs academy system. He went on to Canada Soccer working with the Olympic/U23 team during Rio 2016 Olympic qualification then moving on to the futsal program.
