About Matthew

Services Include: Individual Telehealth counselling Couples counselling Anger management Addictions Trauma Grief Post-traumatic stress disorder and CPTSD Self-esteem / confidence Communication skills Parenting and teen/child issues Hello, my name is Matthew Miller. I am a clinical registered social worker, working with Indigenous Psychological Services. While I am not Indigenous, I deeply respect the worldviews, ways of knowing, traditions, and beliefs of Indigenous peoples. My experience includes working with Indigenous groups and individuals with organizations such as, Families Matter Society, Calgary Dream Centre, Fresh Start Recovery, Corrections Canada, and Veterans Affairs Canada. I was also honoured to work with the Kainai Nation in Southern Alberta for various community wellness projects while working at the Canadian Red Cross. I am a proud father of four adult children and grandfather to five grandchildren and have grown to appreciate the generational knowledge and traditions that have been passed down in my own family. With genuine care for the people who invite me on their wellness and healing journey, I work to create a supportive space to share, offering kindness and compassion without judgment. Together, respectfully, we’ll explore your current situation, and collaboratively develop a realistic roadmap to help you achieve your goals. I have facilitated and taught many groups for students, couples, and families on topics such as anxiety, depression, effective communication, caregiver burn out and strengthening relationships. I have taught programs in prisons and addiction recovery centres, helping over 1,000 fathers to reconnect to their families in healthier, more respectful ways. I am an LGBTQIA2S+ ally and I offer services in-person in Calgary, or video, or phone sessions across Alberta. Training/Certifications include: Registered Clinical Social Worker (RCSW); Trauma Informed Care; A.R.T. certification (Accelerated Resolution Therapy - similar to EMDR); Ongoing cultural awareness training; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) / Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT); DSM 5 in Mental Health (Bow Valley College); Brian Story Certification (Alberta Family Wellness Initiative).
