About Mahnum

#ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS | Bilingual Services (English & Urdu) Mahnum Iqbal is a compassionate and dedicated Provisional Psychologist registered with the College of Alberta Psychologists. She is committed to creating a warm, culturally sensitive, and supportive space where clients feel safe to explore their inner world, navigate life’s challenges, and reconnect with themselves in meaningful and authentic ways. Mahnum holds a Master of Science in Clinical Counselling Psychology from Brenau University in Gainesville, Georgia, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Alberta. She brings experience working with children, adolescents, and adults across a wide range of settings and presenting concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, burnout, identity exploration, and life transitions. Her clinical work is rooted in compassion, empathy, cultural humility, and a strong belief in each person’s innate resilience. Mahnum’s therapeutic approach is integrative and personalized, drawing from evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and trauma-informed practices. She also embraces holistic principles that honor the mind, body, and heart, recognizing that true healing involves aligning with one’s values, identity, and sense of purpose—not just relieving symptoms. Outside of clinical practice, Mahnum has served as a Faculty Associate and Lab Instructor at Brenau University, supporting the academic growth of undergraduate psychology students. Her research background includes studying the role of resilience and coping strategies in survivors of human trafficking, further shaping her commitment to inclusive, trauma-informed care. Her education and training in the U.S. laid a strong foundation in evidence-based practice and a deeply respectful approach to diverse experiences. Mahnum is a member in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) and the Psychologists' Association of Alberta (PAA), and previously held membership with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). Mahnum considers it a privilege to walk alongside clients on their healing journeys. With warmth, expertise, and authenticity, she supports individuals in creating meaningful, fulfilling lives aligned with their truest selves.
