About Liz
Hey there! My name is Liz Burns. I’ve been practicing in Nanaimo since moving from Vancouver with my family in 2021. I’m humbled by how much I’ve learned about the human body over the years and how much I’m still learning on a day to day basis through my practice as a Registered Massage Therapist.
When it comes to treatment approach, it’s not one size fits all here. While some might see massage therapy as a passive means of healthcare, I prefer to work ACTIVELY with my patients through their breath, movement and feedback to provide the best possible outcome in an ever-evolving, dynamic approach to supporting patients in their health.
I’m curious not only about what kind of pain or frustration you might be experiencing in your body but also about its current demands and its history! Trying to not get too hyperfixated on any one area (read: there’s probably more to it than that one knot that won’t go away), my intention is to treat your body as a whole. While that doesn’t necessarily mean that I’ll only do full body massages, it’ll more likely mean that we’ll work beyond simply where your body warns you most.
As a healthcare practitioner, I consider it an absolute privilege to be trusted with a person’s body (and their pain or discomforts). I don’t take that lightly. My overarching hope with my treatment space is that it would be a place where my patients feel safe to come home to themselves through awareness of their body, that they would learn to trust it more, and that we can partner towards that.
All this to say, thanks for being here and for the opportunity to be a part of your healthcare team. I’m looking forward to it!
