About Kristina

My name is Kristina, and I am a Registered Psychologist with a passion for deeply seeing and understanding each person as an individual, while also considering the relationships, family, culture, and broader systems that shape their experiences. I strive to create a warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where children, teens, parents, and families can feel safe, understood, and genuinely themselves. I believe that you cannot hate yourself into a version of yourself you love, and that meaningful change begins with compassion, curiosity, and understanding. Born and raised in Grande Prairie, I have a strong connection to the community and an appreciation for the unique experiences and challenges that can come with living in a smaller community. My experiences have also broadened my understanding of the significant role culture, relationships, and social environments play in mental health and well-being. My original goal when entering college was to become a social worker, driven by an interest in systemic change and the ways our larger social systems influence individuals and families. Over time, I came to understand that meaningful change can also begin within the family and community—when children and families have the safety, support, and tools they need to navigate life’s inevitable challenges. My professional and volunteer experiences have allowed me to work with people across a variety of settings, including a local sexual assault and trauma agency, group homes, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and children’s gymnastics and summer programs. These experiences have helped shape my understanding of the many factors that influence development, behaviour, relationships, and mental health. At the heart of my work is the belief that behaviour is communication and curiosity creates understanding. Rather than simply asking, “How do we stop this behaviour?”, I want to understand, “What is this behaviour trying to tell us?” Behaviour often communicates needs, emotions, experiences, or difficulties that may not yet have words. Together, we can slow things down, look beneath the surface, make sense of what is happening, and develop healthier ways of coping, communicating, and connecting. I work with children, teens, parents, and families experiencing a range of concerns, including big emotions, anxiety, behavioural changes, family conflict, transitions, and relationship challenges. With younger children, therapy may involve play and other age-appropriate approaches that allow them to communicate and process experiences in ways that feel natural to them. With teens, I provide space to explore identity, emotions, relationships, and the challenges of growing into themselves in this complex world. When appropriate, I also work closely with parents and caregivers to strengthen relationships, improve communication, and develop practical strategies that can support change beyond the therapy room. Family therapy can be particularly helpful when communication has broken down, conflict has become repetitive, or family members feel disconnected. Whether navigating separation or divorce, blended-family challenges, mental health struggles, parenting differences, or major transitions, I help families understand patterns, increase empathy, communicate more effectively, and develop healthier ways of relating to one another. Whether your young child needs additional support, you are a young person trying to better understand yourself, you are a parent feeling overwhelmed and looking for guidance, or your family is hoping to strengthen its relationships, I would be honoured to walk alongside you. My goal is to help you feel understood, build on your strengths, and develop practical tools for moving forward with greater confidence, connection, and compassion.
