About Jeff

Jeff Chant, MEd (Counselling Psychology), MDiv Registered Counselling Therapist - Candidate Jeff is a counselling therapist with an integrative, depth-oriented approach that is active, focused, and emotion-centred. His work is shaped by a long-standing commitment to understanding the human condition—how we protect ourselves, how we lose connection with ourselves and others, and how we find our way back to greater honesty, freedom, and meaning. Jeff brings an eclectic background to therapy. Alongside his graduate training in counselling psychology and pastoral psychology, he has spent more than 30 years working in organizational behaviour and human dynamics as a consultant and coach. That experience gives him a practical understanding of the pressures people carry—performance, leadership, identity, relationships, responsibility, and burnout—and how those external demands often intersect with deeper internal struggles. Jeff believes in the integration of mental, physical, and spiritual health. In this context, spiritual health is not about religion or doctrine; it is about existential distress and the human need to make meaning in crisis—drawing on a person's values, beliefs, worldview, culture, and sense of purpose. In sessions, Jeff works with what is happening in the moment—emotion as it shows up in the room, in the body, and in relationship. Rather than only talking about problems, the focus is on gently and directly engaging what is emotionally present. Together, you pay close attention to patterns that interrupt emotional closeness or clarity. These protective patterns aren’t treated as mistakes; they’re understood as responses that once served an important purpose. Over time, the work becomes a careful exploration of how those patterns operate now—and what they may be costing you. This is not passive or purely conversational therapy. It is disciplined, collaborative work with what is alive and present, paced to support depth without overwhelm and intensity without force. What to expect Sessions are active and emotionally engaged We work with feelings as they emerge, not only with narrative or insight Attention is given to anxiety, protective patterns/defences, and emotional experience The work is collaborative, focused, and often time-sensitive When anxiety rises, we slow down; when avoidance appears, we notice it; when emotions emerge, we work carefully and directly with them Is this a fit? This work may be a good fit if you’re willing to engage directly with emotional experience, are curious about patterns that shape your relationships and inner life, and are seeking depth rather than strategies alone. People often come when familiar ways of coping are no longer enough—when grief persists, relationships stall, or life feels constrained, flat, or unreal.
