About Jaime
#ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS | Bilingual Services (English & Spanish)
Jaime holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Colombia and a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from Canada. He is currently a Provisional Registered Psychologist in Alberta and is working toward completing the requirements for full registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists.
With more than 10 years of professional experience, Jaime has worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families, including individuals navigating complex trauma and significant life challenges. His areas of clinical experience and interest include anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, ADHD, life transitions, and family concerns. He has a particular interest in supporting young adults, adults, and families as they navigate personal, relational, and emotional challenges.
Jaime’s primary therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), complemented by additional training in Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based approaches. He integrates these approaches flexibly, tailoring his interventions to each client’s individual needs, strengths, goals, and stage of life.
Throughout his career, Jaime has had the opportunity to work with diverse and underserved populations. His professional experience includes supporting survivors of violence in Colombia, as well as working with immigrant and minority communities, vulnerable individuals, and Indigenous populations in Canada. He has also supported families navigating concerns related to their children’s school experiences, emotional well-being, and adjustment.
In addition to his clinical work, Jaime brings experience in higher education and professional training. Prior to moving to Canada, he worked as a university professor in Colombia, where he taught psychology and supervised students completing their practicum placements. This experience strengthened his commitment to professional development, reflective practice, and evidence-informed care.
Jaime’s approach to therapy is collaborative, evidence-based, client-centred, and trauma-informed. He views therapy as a collaborative process where clients can develop greater self-understanding, recognize and build upon their strengths, and work toward meaningful and sustainable change. He strives to create a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental environment where clients feel heard, respected, and supported.
Jaime recognizes that every individual brings unique experiences, values, strengths, and perspectives to therapy. He works collaboratively with each client to develop an approach that feels relevant, practical, and meaningful to their circumstances.
Ultimately, Jaime’s goal is to help clients better understand themselves, navigate challenges with greater confidence, develop practical coping strategies, and move toward a life that is aligned with their values and goals.
