Hello, my name is Isaiah. I am a Master of Counselling practicum student at City
University of Seattle. My Bachelor of Arts degree is from the University of Alberta, majoring in
Psychology and Sociology. Working with me will show you how much I understand the amount
of patience that is needed to identify and achieve your goals. My support in the collaborative
working alliance between counsellor and client was validated by my own therapeutic journey in
my youth. As an Indigenous man with lived experience on how to develop emotional regulation,
distress tolerance and strengthening interpersonal relationships, my story advocates for how
successful clients can become when they are ready to implement positive changes in
collaboration with a guiding hand. Diversity fosters stronger ecosystems, which has heavily
influenced my self-education on diverse cultures, including providing a safe space for the
2SLGBTQAI+ community. Often, behaviours that are perceived as problematic are not
recognized for how they also serve as survival strategies to endure difficult situations. Therefore,
I congratulate you on arriving as you are with the resiliency you possess. If you would allow me
to bolster your momentum by providing a strengths-based, trauma-focused therapeutic approach
with unconditional positive regard, I believe we can overcome barriers you may be facing and
develop the tools you need to build a new reality of your choosing.
