About Heather
I joined the Total Therapy team in 2006. I enjoy working here because I firmly believe in the multi-modal approach to healthcare. It takes "a village" to support a person through injury recovery or to give a person a platform for greater well-being.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo, then took a year off to travel. I then went to McMaster to get my Master's in Physiotherapy in 2003.
My approach to my treatment sessions is first and foremost to get to know my client and their priorities for recovery. I strongly believe that all aspects of a person must be aligned for the best results. It's never "just a shoulder" or "just a neck". A patient's history of injury, sports, interests and lifestyle can explain a lot about their condition and their present health issues.
I practice manual therapy techniques and am certified to deliver acupuncture. I also speak French, though I wouldn't be bold enough to say I'm bilingual!
I love being a member of the team that gets a client where they want to be, or better yet, an even healthier version than they imagined for themselves.
My interests include any outdoor activity, traveling, reading, playing music and eating delicious foods with my family and friends!
