As a chiropractor, Olympic lifting and strength coach, health & lifestyle consultant and a former national level athlete, I understand the importance of “performance on demand” and its role in functional daily movement.
I graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, after completing four years of a specialty honours degree in Kinesiology Health and Science program at York University. I am also a trained Neurofunctional, Contemporary Medical Acupuncture provider and a TCM acupuncturist.
I am an evidence-informed practitioner, who takes a neural-functional and rehabilitative approach to treatment, utilizing a wide variety of soft tissue therapies (myofascial release and myofascial cupping, and Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Therapy - commonly known as Graston Technique), exercise and electro-modalities to achieve optimum results. I emphasize movement based rehabilitation, combining essential movement patterns with daily occupational and sport based movement requirements. My attention and focus on the importance of neuroscience and neuroanatomy creates valuable insights to treating concussion based head injuries. I am also a member of Pain BC’s chronic pain practitioners program.
I was the medical lead for Athletics Canada at their Toronto high performance training centre, working with Canada's best track and field athletes. I was also the lead medical practitioner for the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games, and medical staff for team Canada during the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Scotland and the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. I have had the great privilege to assist Canadian athletes at six world championship events.

“I can't thank Dr. Duriell enough for the amazing care I received after my ICBC injury. I was struggling with neck and back pain, and his knowledge, compassion, and dedication made such a difference in my recovery. He always took the time to listen and made me feel genuinely cared for. I'm so grateful for everything he's done. Even if its not for an ICBC claim, I highly recommend Dr. Bernard to anyone looking for an exceptional chiropractor!”Read moreShow less

“I couldn't be happier with Duriell. Over the past 2 years I've gone to see a couple different Chiropractors on a regular basis to address an upper back injury that happened years ago. My previous Chiropractors would do the normal 10 minute adjustment, send me out and tell me to come back a week later. I spent a lot of time and a lot of money without progress.
Later I was recommended to go see Duriell. He started by asking me more questions than any other Chiro has ever asked me, and proceeded to have me do a few standard movements to try and figure out what was going wrong.
Duriell didn't even adjust my spine. His words "You've tried that over and over, and it's not fixing the problem, let's try something new"... Long story short, I wasn't moving properly. He showed me some exercises to do at home and they would instantly relieve the pain I was feeling. Over the next two weeks my pain completely went away, no more discomfort, no more annoying upper back.
Duriell taught me to address the origin of the problem. Not to just treat the symptoms. I'm thankful for that and I will be sure to recommend him to others.”Read moreShow less

“I've been a patient of Dr. Bernard for a few months now and have appreciated his patience while I worked on recovering from a back injury and soft tissue damage from a car accident. He was thorough in his explanations as I always went to him with many questions and requests, and he was always willing to show me a new technique or explain his method. He also made sure to learn more about my lifestyle (work, sports, etc.) in order to be able to provide personalized exercises I could incorporate with him as well as in between visits. What I appreciated most is that although I thought the problem was directly from my back/neck (whiplash), he was able to source other areas (such as core and shoulders) that could be improved overall so that my back wouldn't be so strained. Any recovery from injury or accident will take time and treatment, but having a great doctor to visit and consult with helps speed up the process and remind you that you will get batter! Best of all, Dr. Bernard is super friendly which makes visits more enjoyable. Thanks again!”Read moreShow less

“As someone who has never been to a Chiropractor Dr. Duriell Bernard exceeded my expectations. I went in worrying that he would focus on treating my back pain specificially rather then addressing the root cause of my issue. That could not be farther from the truth, Dr. Duriell took time to understand my pain point and determined the root cause, from then he has developed a rehab plan that included fixing my incorrect movement patterns. I would recommend Dr. Duriell to anyone and everyone!!”Read moreShow less
