Charlyn (she/her) is a practicum student completing her Master of Clinical Social Work at the University of British Columbia Okanagan. Charlyn has experience working in government settings supporting youth, as well as supporting children, youth, and adults across a range of community-based contexts. This work has deepened her understanding of the complex ways systems, environments, and relationships shape well-being, and continues to inform her compassionate, client-centered approach.
She is passionate about offering a warm, non-judgmental space where clients feel heard, respected, and supported. Charlyn believes that healing happens within the context of a person’s lived experience and environment, and she strives to meet each client with curiosity, empathy, and care.
Her clinical interests include trauma, identity exploration, anxiety, depression, and substance use. She has experience working with children, youth, and adults, and brings a grounded, respectful, and person-centered approach to her practice.
Charlyn’s therapeutic approach is integrative and client-centered, drawing from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), strengths-based practice, trauma-informed care, and EMDR-informed perspectives. She is passionate about supporting clients in building on their strengths, developing coping strategies, and moving toward meaningful change at a pace that feels right for them.
Above all, Charlyn aims to provide a supportive therapeutic relationship where clients feel safe to explore their experiences, deepen self-understanding, and reconnect with their sense of self, resilience, and agency.
When she is not working or completing her studies, Charlyn enjoys baking, reading, spending time exploring with her dog, and trying new local restaurants.
