About Toyosi

Are you overwhelmed by life’s challenges, wrestling with anxiety, depression, burnout, immigrant challenges, stress, grief or shame? Are you seeking healing from religious trauma, going through relationship challenges as a couple, or academic stress? You don't have to face these struggles alone. As someone passionate about supporting individuals through life’s ups and downs, I offer a safe, non-judgmental space to explore your challenges together. My journey into counselling includes my own experience with therapy, which has brought healing and personal growth into my life. I am committed to walking alongside you on your unique path toward healing and self-discovery. Having lived the immigrant experience myself, I understand the complexities of adjusting to a new culture, the tug-of-war between maintaining your identity and embracing change, and the stigma that can surround seeking help. I also know the resilience and strength it takes to move forward, and I admire the courage to begin that journey. Using an integrative approach that includes CBT, strength-based therapy, solution-focused therapy, attachment theory, and emotionally focused therapy, I am here to help you process stress and identity struggles, build compassion, and navigate relationships and faith-related challenges. Together, we can create a sense of safety while exploring your unique story, redefine your sense of self, and build on your strengths to help you thrive in your new context. It’s not just about healing—it’s about growth, relief, and rediscovering hope. Let’s embark on this journey together. You don’t have to do it alone. Hello, it’s nice to meet you. I’m a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) at Upstream Counselling. I earned my Master of Divinity at McMaster Divinity College in 2008 and was in pastoral ministry for about 20 years. My counselling journey began through pastoral experiences, where I discovered a deep passion for psychologically and spiritually supporting people. Helping individuals and families explore their faith, find purpose, and navigate life’s challenges has always been at the heart of my work. My approach to therapy is collaborative and client-centred. Together, we’ll explore your unique worldview, process your concerns, and work toward your healing and personal growth. I believe in creating a safe, non-judgmental space where you can feel heard and valued. Outside counselling, I enjoy playing the piano, singing, cooking, and walking. These activities keep me grounded and remind me of the importance of balance and self-care, which I also encourage in my clients. You don’t have to face life’s challenges alone. Let’s begin your journey toward healing together. I can support you in English, Pidgin English and Yoruba.
