About Megali

#ACCEPTING VIRTUAL CLIENTS ONLY Megali is a Registered Provisional Psychologist, in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologist and practices under clinical supervision. Megali is also a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, and maintains a professional provisional membership with the Psychologists Association of Alberta, both in good standing. Megali holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University; and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from the University of Alberta. Megali is dedicated to continued education and professional development in order to enhance her competency to best serve her clients. Her professional background includes: research experience both within the Intercultural Communication Lab, and the Gesture and Language Development Lab; Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) skills training; Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) training; Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST); Mental Health First Aid (MHFA); Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) training; and Seeking Safety. Furthermore, Megali is currently pursuing training through coursework to obtain her ADHD Clinical Services Provider Certification. Beyond education, Megali has gained experience within the mental health field by working with clients across the lifespan, with various experiences revolving around mental health and addiction. Over the years, Megali has been working within a residential treatment program as an addictions counsellor; within protective services as a safety ambassador; as a residential support worker; and as an addiction and mental health recovery worker. Specifically, gaining experience and learning from diverse clientele such as but not limited to: individuals experiencing homelessness, individuals faced with challenges impacting their mental health and wellbeing, and individuals living with antisocial personality disorder, anxiety, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism, acquired brain injury, borderline personality disorder, depression, eating disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), schizophrenia, and substance use disorder. These experiences have been acquired through healthcare settings, human service agencies, residential treatment programs, and volunteer placements which have taught and strengthened her belief in the biopsychosocial and harm reduction philosophies and models. Megali aligns with a person-centered, holistic, trauma-informed, and collaborative approach. She is committed to establishing a therapeutic environment that is welcoming, safe, and non-judgmental to each client through empathy, compassion, cultural responsivity, and unconditional positive regard. Positively thrilled to be joining the Nova Psychology team, she is looking forward to meeting and working with clients on their wellness journeys. Provisional Psychologist Billing and Insurance Reimbursement Please note that provisional psychologists are not eligible to provide direct billing through TELUS eClaims insurance providers. Clients receiving services from a provisional psychologist will be responsible for payment at the time of service. Following payment, clients are encouraged to submit their invoice and receipt directly to their insurance provider for reimbursement, in accordance with their individual extended health benefits plan. Coverage and reimbursement amounts are determined solely by the client’s insurance provider, and Nova Psychology cannot guarantee eligibility or reimbursement. Clients are encouraged to confirm their coverage requirements with their insurance provider prior to beginning services.
