“My experience with Dr. Badiuk was abysmal, and I'm shocked that he works for a specialty pain clinic. Either Dr Badiuk has little experience with long term chronic pain, or simply had no genuine interest in helping my acute pain situation and immobility. The initial phone consult with him went poorly as he basically wanted to read through a script and showed low regard for my symptoms or situation, but I assumed perhaps an in person meeting would be much better. It was actually worse. When I arrived for the epidural, he didn't introduce himself and the first words out of his mouth after I asked him if he was Dr Badiuk were "You're probably gonna pass out from this, most young men do.” A very odd thing to state (I’m not ‘young’ by any stretch) and I’m not sure why he would preface the treatment with this blanket statement (or provide information on mitigating procedures if I did pass out), but we never actually got the treatment (something I am now very thankful for). He had me sit on the table for a quick exam, but I informed him that sitting was too uncomfortable for longer than a few seconds due to my nerve pain (disc bulge & deterioration) and I had to get off the table very quickly. He seemed frustrated by this and informed me that the injection had to be done while I was seated. I was never informed of this prior (I was actually informed of nothing before the procedure, or any long-term options), and my understanding from my very layperson research on fluoroscopy (and every single website I can find) says that this procedure is done with the patient lying face down flat on the table. Since literally every single website says the patient is flat I'm going to take a guess at this point and say he perhaps wasn't planning to do a guided injection but simply a visual one (?), which is also quite disturbing. When I told him I couldn't sit and asked for his advice on how to move forward, he barked at me a couple other options but seemed very disinterested in explaining either one or giving me an understanding of what they were or what would be the best option given my specific situation, almost like I was wasting his time. Given that getting (more like limping) to the radiology department at the hospital caused me a great deal of discomfort and pain, and that he seemed to have zero consideration for this or a way (interest) to make me comfortable during the procedure, I became quite uncomfortable with his overall disinterest and lack of care. He said I needed to decide what I wanted to do (I’m certainly no expert so how do I know what is best?) but given I had no idea what was the right option and my growing discomfort I decided to leave at this point without getting any treatment. Overall utterly disappointing for both me and my family given my immobility, and again I’m completely shocked that he works at a pain specialty clinic.”Read moreShow less
