“I had a really positive experience at Massage Therapy On Dunbar. From the moment I walked in, the space felt calm and inviting, which immediately put me at ease. The therapist was attentive and took time to ask about my specific concerns before starting the session, which made the treatment feel personalized rather than one-size-fits-all. During the massage, the pressure and technique were excellent — firm where it needed to be and gentle where appropriate. It was clear that the therapist was knowledgeable and skilled, and I left feeling genuinely relieved and more relaxed than I had in a long time. “I have been to both Dunbar and pt Grey Massage. My latest experience with Averly has been the best. She listens to my "issues" and provides the best massage I have had. I hate to post this as it may get more difficult to book, but well deserved.”

She is patient, accommodating, sets consent boundaries and makes sure you are aware that consent is ongoing* and can be retracted and is fluid. This was new for me. “I arrive 15mins early for my appointment, as I'm walking to the front door I pass the girl sitting at the front desk on her phone, which I find out is my RMT, I get told to have a seat, than she disappeared in the back for the entire 15mins, so I read some reviews, and the second 1 I see is 2 stars bc she wasted the first 15min asking the same questions I filled out online a day before showing up. Right away were a minute behind, and she asked me to have a seat bc she was going to ask me the entire list of questions I already filled out. That's the first problem, second problem, I give her 5 mins to feel out my back, than I ask for more pressure bc it feels like she's just touching/feeling out my back, and her response not a deep tissue rmt. I'm sorry it doesn't take extra skill or knowledge to apply more pressure, my 10yo sister pushes harder. And this rmt was suppose to be an athlete of what? And I paid put of my own pocket bc they don't do direct billing here. So if I'm paying 130$ for a 1hour massage you better put in some effort by applying more pressure if I ask. I don't recommend this place to any, bc it seems like they have the mindset of do as little as possible and get paid as much as possible. Which is ridiculous. Fake surface nice , not there to help at all. Worse massage place I've been to, and I've been to alot. Terrible service.”Read moreShow less

“Lost the first 15 minutes of my 1 hour treatment listening to my therapist explain covid protocols and reviewing my medical history yet again. She took over 5 min to return after changing to start treatment. I understand the need for all this, but it didn't warrant me losing a quarter of my paid treatment time - which I mentioned, and the therapist did not make up the time. “I am an experienced Massage Therapist and have worked with Olympic athletes with some of the best Physical Therapists in the business internationally much of my career, helping them to get back to their optimal condition following an injury. After moving back to Vancouver I had to seek a very qualified Physical Therapist having had ACL reconstruction to one of my knees and a serious hamstring injury myself. With my professional background, you probably guessed I am extremely picky about who works on me. Finding Peter Curtain and Dunbar Physiotherapy has been a huge relief. He has brought me into a place with both injuries where I feel not only back to my old self again but better. This is probably the best thing you could hear about a PT. This and the fact that Peter also takes into account 'how you are doing' and really cares, an extremely important aspect of rehabilitation whether you are a professional athlete or an active person who wants to stay that way. Also, when I ruptured my hamstring just a month ago, Peter knew the Sports Medicine doc I was referred to at UBC and immediately communicated not only with him but also with some people to help me rehab. He is on the ball. I could tell how much the doc respected Peter's professional opinion. My daughter also went to him for over a year, often flying from the Island to see Peter after being in a serious accident in Vancouver where someone rammed-T boned her car at high speed just after she finished nursing school. It was traumatic and her injury kept her from working which was hugely psychologically challenging. She was in quite severe pain that wasn't going away in her back..... Peter worked so diligently to help her get out of pain both though his own practice and helping her to find the right team to guide her rehabilitation. At one point he was the only one who could relieve her pain with his techniques. Happily, almost two years after the accident, with Peters and others assistance, she is doing so much better and has her first nursing job! I can't tell you how relieved I am as a Mom to have had Peter and the rest of my daughters medical team working with her. He was a vital component of both my daughters and my recovery.”Read moreShow less
