I am leaving this review based on our experience at the front desk during what was supposed to be my child’s first physiotherapy appointment. We arrived on time, having already completed and submitted insurance and intake forms online in advance. Upon checking in, I was addressed in a rude and dismissive manner by the receptionist. I was then asked to complete my third insurance form, despite already having done so online. After sitting down, I was handed a debit machine without any explanation of the charge, what the payment was for, or confirmation of insurance processing. As this was a first-time visit for a minor with a disability the lack of communication was confusing and uncomfortable. When I asked for clarification, the situation escalated rather than being de-escalated. Management did not address the lack of intake information or the impact on my daughter as a minor. I have contacted my insurance Canada Life and they assured me pre billing is not an acceptable practice. Given how quickly the situation escalated and the tone used from the outset, I was left with concerns about whether implicit bias or profiling may have contributed to how we were treated. I am not asserting intent, but I believe it is reasonable to raise this concern given the circumstances. As we were leaving the clinic, a receptionist followed closely behind my daughter while loudly stating that police were being called, despite the fact that we were already exiting and there was no safety issue. This was extremely upsetting for my daughter. Healthcare settings should feel safe and supportive, especially for minors and patients with disabilities. Unfortunately, that was not our experience here.

I think Barry is good at physio therapy but beware.... it was close to CHristmas when I was injured and he had me squeeze in appointments when he was available (first one was 11/2 days from first appt...I would have had time to do exercises only once...???). I received confirmation of second appt. but while driving there they phoned to cancel the appt. Of course I can't answer phone when driving. 45 minutes notice to cancel an appt because he decided to take holidays???? Really?
