“I attended this facility for treatment after a workplace injury and was ultimately misdiagnosed. I was cleared to return to work without any proper assessment of what I could or could not safely do, and no work restrictions were provided. As a result, I returned to full duties and reinjured myself, significantly worsening my symptoms. I am now off work again for a longer period because of this failure to properly assess my condition. I have a nerve injury secondary to tendon/ligament stretching as the initial injury, but I was treated as if the problem was purely muscular. No meaningful testing was done to evaluate my functional ability. For example, at a different facility it was found my dominant hand could only produce about 6 lbs of grip strength, while my non-dominant hand could produce 40+ lbs. Despite this major discrepancy, I was cleared for full duties by Back in Motion. My job is physically demanding. At the time I was cleared to work, I could barely even hold a pen. Because of this experience, I sought care at a different facility in St. Thomas, where the assessment and treatment were far more thorough and appropriate.
