“Very disappointing experience because of the receptionist and the way the billing situation was handled. Before booking my appointment, I specifically called and asked whether they could directly bill my insurance, especially Canada Life insurance. I was clearly told yes, so based on that information, I booked my appointment. On the day of my first appointment, I again confirmed with the receptionist before my session whether they would be able to direct bill the insurance. She said yes. However, after my session, she told me that she would submit it on Wednesday after my second session. I was a little concerned and asked if she could submit the claim that same day for that session and then submit Wednesday’s session separately. She told me that she was travelling that day and that submitting the claim would take hours, so I should not worry. She also gave me a paid receipt and said that if the insurance did not accept it, I could submit it myself. Then, on Wednesday, before my second session, I called and explained that the insurance direct claim was not going through and asked if they could submit it from their side. This is when the situation became extremely frustrating. The receptionist started arguing and said they could not submit it because another customer’s Canada Life claim had been rejected. When I asked if they could at least try, her response was basically, “Why should I try if someone else already got rejected?” After going back and forth, she finally told me that they actually do not direct bill Canada life insurance. This was extremely frustrating because if I had been told this honestly during my first phone call, I would have made a different decision. I don’t understand why this information was not provided to me from the beginning. Despite all of this, I still went ahead and paid the remaining amount because I wanted to handle the situation respectfully. However, during the conversation, the receptionist called us “arrogant” and made comments about the way we were talking. I don’t understand what gave her the right to personally judge or speak to us that way, especially when we were simply asking for clarification about something that we had specifically asked about before booking. She also spoke disrespectfully to my husband, which was completely unnecessary and unprofessional. My husband still paid the remaining balance from our own pocket. The physicians themselves were good and polite enough during our interactions, but the receptionist’s behaviour and the way this billing issue was handled completely ruined the experience for us. My advice to anyone visiting: please confirm the insurance billing process very clearly before booking or paying for anything, and preferably get confirmation in writing. If you genuinely care about your customers, I would strongly suggest improving the front-desk staff’s communication and customer service. Miscommunication can happen, but being rude, arguing with customers, and personally judging them is not acceptable.”
