“For men, most pelvic therapists seem to be focused on prostrate cancer recovery, and I needed something completely different. After a complex pelvic surgery to treat a very rare form of cancer (sacral chordoma), I needed a PT who could tailor-make a custom plan for me, complicated by the fact I needed a hip replacement way too early in life too. Marie-Josee has taken me from crippling pelvic, leg, and back pain during my cancer recovery, through a hip replacement and into a spot where my chronic pain has been much improved. I felt my doctors had given up on me, but Marie-Josee relieved the worst chronic daily pelvic pain I could imagine while I was still waiting for a referral to the complex pain clinic. I often say I was lucky my cancer was found as early as it was so that I could avoid the worst of the nerve damage, but I was also amazingly fortunate to meet Marie-Josee as my quality of (and my outlook on) life has been vastly improved through our efforts together. “I have seen Marie-Josée for pelvic floor physiotherapy. She is professional, respectful and uses a trauma informed approach to care. She explained what was going on, what the plan was and gave me exercises to do at home. She also uses an ultrasound to see your muscles as part of the initial assessment which is neat to see. I highly recommend seeing MJ for your pelvic floor needs as she makes you feel safe and comfortable.”
