About Wendy

###Registered Psychologist #####I’m an individual and couples therapist specializing in relationships, anxiety, and trauma. My goal as a therapist is to support clients in moving from a place of feeling stuck, unfulfilled, and disconnected toward a life filled with meaning, purpose, and connection. I want to help you break free from the cycle of “I’ll be happy when…” and instead find joy in the process of self-discovery, growth, and new possibilities. It takes courage to admit that something isn’t working and to reach out for support. I understand—because I’ve been there too. I strive to be the person I needed in those difficult moments, and I don’t take that responsibility lightly. If you know something needs to shift but aren’t sure where to begin, I’m here to help—bringing not only specialized training, but also the insight that comes from lived experience. #####The way we see the world—and ourselves—is shaped by our relationships. My therapeutic practice is rooted in relationships. I truly believe that when we take a closer look at symptoms of depression or anxiety, they are often deeply connected to our relationships—especially those formed in early childhood. Our relationships shape how we see the world and ourselves. Healing often begins by exploring our personal experiences within these connections. We all have the power to rewrite our stories and move forward feeling healthier and more fulfilled. Many couples come to me feeling disconnected, struggling with communication, yet still holding a strong desire to reconnect and rediscover the spark they once shared. My approach to relationship repair is strongly influenced by the Gottman Institute and focuses on effective communication, boundary setting, and mindfulness. If your goal is to rebuild and strengthen your relationship, we can work together to repair those fractures and help you get back on the same page. #####I believe in the tools I use as a therapist because they address the root cause of the problem and foster lasting change. My approach is person-centred and tailored to each individual’s unique goals, values, and hopes for their life and relationships. I am certified in several evidence-based modalities, including The Gottman Method, which is backed by nearly 40 years of research on relationship longevity. I also draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and EMDR—all of which are effective in treating depression, anxiety, and trauma. I view therapy as a collaborative and holistic process. Together, we’ll explore the root of what’s going on, understand what’s driving it, and determine the most effective path forward. Helping people heal from depression, anxiety, and trauma is what I’m truly meant to do. Even from a young age, I’ve been someone others turn to when they need to feel understood and supported. #####You don’t have to struggle alone—I’m here to offer person-centered support, with a gentle dose of humor along the way. My office is a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can speak freely and explore even their darkest thoughts and beliefs. I don’t see myself as leading the therapeutic process—instead, I aim to be the flashlight that helps illuminate the path forward. I believe every person has the strength within themselves to heal and create meaningful change. My commitment is to provide flexible, honest, and approachable support, so clients feel comfortable and empowered as they navigate their healing journey. At the heart of my work is a desire to help build stronger communities by uplifting and supporting each individual within them. ####Educational Background - Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) - Yorkville University - Bachelor of Arts (BA) with Psychology Major - MacEwan University ####Presenting Concerns - Abuse/Survivors of Abuse - Academic Concerns - Adjusting to Change - Anger - Anxiety - Blended Family - Breakup - Bullying - Caregiver Issues/Stress - Commitment Issues - Communication - Complex Posttraumatic Stress (C-PTSD) - Connection - Control Issues - Coping - Divorce/Divorce Adjustment - Emotional Abuse - Emotional Intelligence - Emotional Regulation - Emptiness - Executive Functioning/ Dysfunction - Family Problems - Family of Origin Issues - Fatigue - Fear - Forgiveness - Grief, Loss, and Bereavement - Guilt - Helplessness - Identity - Inadequacy - Infidelity/Affair Recovery - Intimacy - Irritability - Isolation - Jealousy - Life Purpose - Life Challenges/ Transitions - Men's Issues - Midlife Crisis - Mood Swings - Neglect - Panic and Panic Attacks - Parenting - Perfectionism - Personal Development - Polyamory/ Non-Monogamy - Postpartum Depression - Posttraumatic Stress (PTSD) - Power/Control - Premarital Counselling - Rejection - Relationships and Marriage - Self-Actualization - Self-Care - Self-Compassion - Self-Criticism - Self-Doubt - Self-Esteem - Self-Harm - Self-Love - Self-Worth - Sensitivity to Criticism - Separation - Sexuality - Sexual Desire - Sexual Orientation - Shame - Social Anxiety/Phobia - Spirituality - Stress - Transitions - Trauma - Trust Issues - Values Clarification - Women's Issues - Workplace Issues - Worry - Worthlessness ####Approaches Used - Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) - Brief Therapy - Cognitive Therapy - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) - Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy - Gottman Method - Humanistic - Internal Family Systems - Mindfulness - Narrative Therapy - Person Centered Therapy - Strength Based - Trauma Focussed - Trauma Informed ####Professional Associations/Regulatory Board - College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) - Psychologist’s Association of Alberta (PAA)
