About Vanessa

I am a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists. I am very passionate about my chosen career and consider my work with clients a privilege. I engage with clients in a professional, non-judgmental, genuine, authentic, compassionate, and honest manner. I work with my clients by building a trusting and confidential therapeutic rapport and work from a client-centered and collaborative approach. I value going at the client’s pace and have appreciation of the clients lived experience. I believe that counselling can increase a client’s insight, awareness, acceptance, and hope for a better functioning life. I have experience working with youth, adults, seniors, and groups with a variety of mental health illnesses. I have special interest and enjoy working with people who have experienced trauma, grief, loss, and self-esteem/self-worth issues. Among those, I work with people who suffer from stress, anxiety, depression, addictions, PTSD, and ADHD. I also respect different diversities and cultural backgrounds (specifically First Nations), as well as, I have attended trainings and allied with LGBTQ2S+ community members. I am skilled and trained in the delivery of evidence-based therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), and am a Grief Recovery Specialist with the Grief Recovery Institute. I have also completed Level 1 and 2 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and I use Gottman Method Couples Therapy in my work with couples.
