About Ujaanthiny

As a first-generation Canadian of Tamil Sri Lankan heritage and a child of immigrants, I know how much culture can shape the way we understand identity, responsibility, family, and emotional expression. I understand what it can feel like to move between different worlds, balancing cultural expectations, family values, and your own evolving sense of self. Many of the people I support are carrying more than others can see. You may look high-functioning on the outside, while inside you feel exhausted, overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure how to slow down without guilt. You might be struggling with overthinking, people-pleasing, relationship patterns, family expectations, grief, trauma, life transitions, anxiety, or depression. You may know something needs to change, but feel unsure where to begin or how to prioritize your own needs. In our work together, my goal is to help you better understand what you are carrying and why certain patterns keep showing up. I believe self-awareness can be life-changing because it allows us to respond to ourselves with more clarity, care, and choice. I aim to create a space where you can be honest about what you are experiencing without needing to filter, explain, or minimize it. By acknowledging your true feelings and challenges, we can begin to build new ways of coping, caring for yourself, and moving through life with more self-trust. I do not believe therapy is about becoming a different person. To me, it is about understanding yourself more clearly, strengthening the tools you already have, and learning how to live in a way that feels more aligned and sustainable. My approach is collaborative and grounded in evidence-based modalities, including CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and strengths-based work. I adapt my approach to your personal needs, your lived experience, and what feels most supportive for where you are right now.
