About Takamasa
in Japan, Director of The Centre for Japanese Acupuncture He is a third-generation acupuncturist in his family. After Takamasa graduated from both the Japan Central Acupuncture and Moxabustion College as well as the Japan Physiotherapy College, he practiced under the guidance of his grandfather who was a student of the renown acupuncture master Yoshimizu Uwagawa. In 1989 he moved to Canada and opened an acupuncture practice in Toronto. His style has been greatly influenced by both Nagano and Kiiko Matsumoto styles. The past 10 years working alongside Dr. Seino he now focuses exclusively on using Seino-system style acupuncture and moxibustion. His patient outcomes have increased with excellent results while also reducing the amount of time required to deliver an effective treatment. He has also been working as a translator at the workshops and seminars of many prominent practitioners such as Hiromi Matsumoto, Hideo Shinma (from the Fukaya-kyu school), Junko Syuto (from the Taishi school of paediatric acupuncture) and Tsuyoshi Shimamura (from the Nagano school). He also served as an interpreter at The International Council of Medical Acupuncture and Related Techniques, (ICMART) in Bulgaria and WFAS. He teaches and has been teaching Japanese acupuncture at several schools in Toronto for nearly twenty years (at Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine Academy Toronto, Eight Branches Academy of Eastern Medicine, Institute of Traditional Medicine). With his vast knowledge and expertise Takamasa has been working to promote the practice of Japanese acupuncture and TCM throughout the world.
