About Shannon

Shannon Andersen completed her Physiotherapy degree at McMaster University in 1998, and then went on to challenge her manual and manipulation exams, becoming a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT) in 2002. In 2005 she became certified in acupuncture through the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute. She has completed many courses over the past 20 years, with special interests including Kinesiotape Uses and Techniques, Applications of Shockwave, Sport Massage and Dry Needling. Shannon loves to work with athletes and musicians of all ages and abilities, with a focus not only on return to sport or stage, but also in injury prevention and education, utilizing a hands-on, patient-centred approach. She has worked with Stars on Ice, Tennis Canada, and many levels of athletes and musicians involved in hockey, baseball, gymnastics, race walking, figure skating, squash, drumming, guitar and violin. Shannon has a robust history in sports herself, from high school synchronized skating, softball and field hockey, to ice hockey, which she played from 1982-1990 with the Leaside Wildcats and then Varsity Hockey for The University of Toronto Blues from 1990-1994, where she earned four OWIAA championships and her Bronze T award. She was recently inducted into the University of Toronto Sports Hall of Fame alongside her 1990/91 and 91/92 ice hockey teammates. Shannon is very excited to be back in Leaside where she was born and raised. She is very active in the community volunteering as Assistant Coach and Trainer for her three children in both the Leaside Flames and the Leaside Wildcats organizations. She continues to play ice hockey herself, and when not at a rink she loves spending time with her husband and kids at the family cottage, camping, travelling and playing a hand or two of Euchre.
