About Sena

Hello, I’m so glad you’re here! I hope you come to feel that you are exactly where you need to be. My name is Sena. As a first-generation Canadian and a Black woman, among many other identities, I understand how navigating the world can come with unique and layered challenges. Balancing cultural expectations, systemic barriers, generational differences, and personal experiences can feel overwhelming, especially when support is not always encouraged or accessible. My lived experiences deeply informs my work and my commitment to creating a space where you feel seen, understood, and supported. I am particularly passionate about working with individuals who hold intersecting identities and may face barriers that impact their sense of self, relationships, and overall well-being. This includes, but is not limited to, those navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, identity exploration, intergenerational experiences, and relational challenges. Life can already feel heavy at times, and when layered with the complexity of identity, it can become even more difficult to carry alone. You don’t have to. My approach to therapy is grounded primarily in Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Psychodynamic Therapy, while integrating Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) as needed. I also draw from a range of additional tools and techniques, which we can explore together to ensure our work aligns with your needs and goals. At the core of my work is the belief in walking alongside you. I aim to be kind yet honest, gentle yet direct, and to offer a space rooted in empathy, curiosity, and respect. Together, we will explore your experiences, deepen your self-understanding, and move toward a sense of alignment that feels authentic and sustainable. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Wilfrid Laurier University, with a minor in Criminology, and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. My professional experience includes working with youth and adults in diverse communities across settings such as schools, youth custody centres, residential rehabilitation programs, and refugee support services. Outside of my work as a therapist, I am an explorer, an active member of my cultural community, and a writer! I offer in-person sessions in Mississauga, as well as secure virtual sessions. Taking the first step can feel difficult, but you’re here, and that matters. I look forward to walking alongside you as you move toward greater clarity, connection, and piece of mind.
