About Sean

Counselling with Sean Gillespie, RCC Sean works with adults (19+) navigating a wide range of life experiences, including anxiety, grief and loss, identity concerns, substance use, relational challenges, and work-related stress. He has a strong interest in working with Veterans, First Responders, and Military members, particularly those navigating the unique pressures, role shifts, and barriers to seeking support that can come with high-intensity service roles. Sean’s approach is warm, direct, and collaborative. He focuses on creating a space where clients can speak openly while also developing practical tools that fit their lives. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, he tailors counselling to each person’s needs, goals, and circumstances, with an emphasis on steady, meaningful progress at a manageable pace. He draws from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, and Narrative Therapy, alongside trauma-informed, harm-reduction, and culturally responsive practices. These approaches are used flexibly according to what feels most useful and meaningful for each client. Sean’s clinical experience includes providing individual counselling to adults navigating anxiety, grief, identity concerns, relationship challenges, substance use, and life stress. He also brings experience in community mental health program coordination and trauma-informed, harm-reduction work supporting Indigenous clients. Sean believes counselling works best as a genuine collaboration: helping clients better understand what they are experiencing, identify what matters to them, and develop realistic and sustainable ways of moving forward.
