Salma Furniturewala has a Master of Counselling Psychology- Art Therapy from Adler University. She currently works as a Family Counsellor in the Greater Vancouver area, where she is providing Individual Counselling and support to parents in order to help them find ways to meet the needs of their children.
Salma graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Mumbai University and later obtained a Diploma in Early Childhood Education. Many elements of her schooling relating to child development and psychology laid the foundation for her therapeutic work through art and play therapy. Salma's approach to working with the Arts reflects her understanding that every person is unique and that expressive art therapy offers options for all.
Previously, Salma established and led a Nursery school, bringing together her expertise in the field of Early Childhood Education, as well as demonstrating the ability to build teams and foster collaborative relationships.
Outside of work, Salma enjoys volunteering at The Gathering Place, a community center that provides necessary services to the less fortunate. Salma takes delight in cooking and has led culinary classes for the youth to engage in healthy food and eating habits, under the banner of 'YOUNG CHEFS'.
Salma lives in Burnaby with her husband and two daughters and is happiest when cooking, doing mindful yoga, or relaxing with friends and family.
