About Rosalind

You may be dealing with something difficult in your life right now, or with the effects of experiences that happened much earlier. Sometimes people come to therapy because something in the present has become painful, overwhelming, or difficult to navigate. Other times, there is a growing sense that something from the past is still shaping the present, influencing how you feel about yourself, how you relate to others, or what feels possible in your life. I am particularly interested in understanding how our experiences, both past and present, shape us. What we are living through now, as well as what we have experienced earlier in life, can influence our sense of who we are, what we believe we deserve, what we expect from other people, and how we respond when we feel hurt, afraid, rejected, or uncertain. These experiences can show up in many different ways, including anxiety, depression, shame, self criticism, difficulty trusting ourselves, painful relationship patterns, or ways of coping that once helped us but no longer serve us. One of the things I value most about this work is the opportunity to understand people's lives in context. When we know more of someone's story, the ways they have adapted, protected themselves, coped, and sometimes made choices they regret, often become more understandable. I approach people with curiosity rather than judgment, and with respect for the complexity of what they have lived through. Therapy can be a place where there is room for the whole story, including the parts of ourselves or our histories that may be difficult to understand, accept, or talk about. I work with adults experiencing trauma, attachment and relationship difficulties, emotional or psychological abuse, depression, anxiety, and significant life transitions. You do not need to arrive in therapy knowing exactly what is wrong or where a difficulty comes from. Part of our work can be understanding how the pieces fit together and what may be keeping certain patterns, feelings, or responses in place. I believe that understanding ourselves can bring compassion and clarity, but insight alone is not always enough to create lasting change. Our experiences can shape implicit learning, memory, and nervous system responses in ways that continue to influence how we feel and respond, often outside of conscious awareness. Therapy can involve working with these emotional and bodily patterns while creating opportunities for new experiences that support more flexible ways of responding in the present. My hope is that this work creates greater freedom in how you relate to yourself and others, the choices available to you, and your sense of what might be possible in your life. I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist in Edmonton and offer both in person and virtual therapy to adults. My approach is relational, attachment based, and trauma informed. Depending on what is most helpful for you, I draw from EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic approaches, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and other evidence informed therapies. Rather than applying one method to everyone, I work collaboratively with you to understand what you are experiencing and what kind of therapeutic work may be most helpful.
