About Rhian

About Rhian Wight, M.A., C.C.C.., Canadian Certified Counsellor Rhian is a warm and dedicated counsellor with nearly a decade of experience supporting individuals and couples through life’s most challenging transitions. She has helped people navigate divorce, rebuild connection and intimacy, recover from job loss, face family challenges, manage attentional difficulties (such as ADHD), reduce chronic pain, and heal from personal injuries or motor vehicle accidents. Her work blends strength-based approaches with solution-focused therapy, guiding clients toward clarity, resilience, and calm — even in the most difficult times. Before becoming a counsellor, Rhian served as a College Director, where she supported students facing anxiety, trauma, and personal crises. Her deep desire to provide more meaningful support inspired her to return to school, where she earned her Master’s in Counselling Psychology while managing a full-time job and raising young children. Since then, she has worked in non-profit organizations, conducted mental health research, and developed recovery programs for people coping with addiction and trauma. Rhian creates a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can process emotions, heal from trauma, and regain a sense of control in their lives. She brings extensive experience in supporting individuals navigating relationship breakups, anxiety, and the legal system, offering compassionate guidance shaped by both her professional expertise and personal insight. Her counselling services include both short-term and long-term options. She draws from a variety of approaches, including Emotional and Somatic therapies, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Flash therapy, Sex-Informed Therapy, and the Gottman Method for Couples (Level 1 Certified). Rhian’s philosophy is rooted in the belief that “what we focus on grows.” She takes a holistic approach to mental health, emphasizing self-care and often collaborating with other wellness professionals, such as acupuncturists, massage therapists, and chiropractors, to support the healing process. She also offers online counselling, making her guidance and support accessible to those seeking comfort, clarity, and a path forward during life’s most trying moments. Rhian is registered with ACTA - Association of Counselling Therapy of Alberta (3039).
