About Paul

Hello! My name is Paul Ostlund (he/him), and I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists. I was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, and hold a Master’s degree in Counselling from City University of Seattle and an Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Neuroscience and Behaviour from McMaster University. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process grounded in curiosity, authenticity, and respect. My goal is to create an inviting, authentic, and non-judgmental space where you can feel safe sharing openly. Together, we can develop greater self-awareness and self-compassion while moving toward the life you want to live. I believe the stories we tell ourselves can profoundly influence how we understand ourselves, relate to others, and navigate the world around us. I approach therapy with curiosity and respect for the experiences, stories, and beliefs that shape your life. In session, we will create space to explore them more fully, allowing for new perspectives and possibilities to emerge. Together, we can identify the values that matter most to you and use them as a compass for navigating life’s complexities, even when things feel difficult or uncertain. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, anger, and difficulties with emotion regulation, as well as those navigating identity exploration, stressful life circumstances, questions of meaning, or other periods of transition. I also work with couples experiencing challenges with communication, connection, and intimacy. Together, we will explore what matters to you, deepen your understanding of your experiences, and find ways to move toward your values even during difficult times. Rather than focusing only on what may be going wrong, I aim to see the entirety of who you are and recognize the strengths and values already present in your life. From there, we can work together toward a life that reflects who you want to be and what matters most to you. Who do I work with? Adults Couples Modality: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Existential Therapy Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) Narrative Therapy Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT)
