About Nicola

Nicola Marsh-Poremba is a Registered Social Worker with over 18 years of experience. She has a Master of Social Work degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Master of Arts Degree in Sociology from the University of Guelph. Nicola is a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, and the Ontario Association of Social Workers. With extensive experience in both education and child protection, Nicola is deeply committed to supporting adolescents, and families in navigating the challenges that impact mental and emotional well-being. Nicola's career has been driven by a passion for fostering resilience and empowerment in young people. Nicola's professional background includes working in education, youth detention, and child protection services. Throughout her career, Nicola has developed a strong understanding of the unique needs of adolescents, including those dealing with trauma, abuse, neglect, and other difficult life circumstances. By working closely with families, educators, and child welfare professionals, Nicola has been able to create safe, supportive environments where youth can heal, grow, and thrive. In therapy, Nicola's focus is on building trust and creating a non-judgmental space for clients to express themselves. Nicola uses evidence-based approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectal Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), with trauma-informed care, to tailor interventions that meet the individual needs of each child and their family. Nicola's goal is to develop coping strategies, emotional regulation skills, and a positive sense of self to overcome life's obstacles with confidence. She is dedicated to empowering her clients with the tools and resources they need to support growth. If you are looking for compassionate, skilled support for your teen, family or self, Nicola is here to help.
