Though he prefers to go by Dr. Monty, Dr. Sawalha has finished his Residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, and starting his subspecialty residency training program at the University of Toronto.
Prior to Residency training, Dr. Monty obtained his medical degree from the University of Alberta, where he also studied Psychology and obtained a certificate in Leadership studies through the Peter Lougheed Leadership College.
Dr. Monty's passion lies in treating both acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries and pain with a priority on restoring & maintaining function. Though skilled in X-ray and ultrasound guided spine and peripheral joint procedures; the foundation of Dr. Monty's practice is centered around patient education and the use of exercises to strengthen the human body, to achieve long term functional outcomes.
By combining his background in psychology, physical rehabilitation, and ongoing training in pain management, Dr. Monty will always work with his patients to change how they think about pain, respond to pain, and fundamentally experience pain.
In addition to treating chronic pain, Dr. Monty also has a focus towards caring for athletes of all levels. Regardless of their specific functional goals, Dr. Monty will always work alongside his patients on their journey of physical, psychological, and emotional healing & optimization.
