About Michael
I specialize in therapy for adults who have and continue to experience relationship or anxiety struggles in their daily life. Often what we have experienced in the past continues to affect us to the present day – including the feeling of being frozen, numb, or so anxious that you feel you can’t focus. In the work I have done with my clients, I have found that the issues that are affecting your life can show up as withdrawing from activities, relationships, or avoiding situations that have now become uncomfortable. This can be hard on both you and your loved ones. The most important part of therapy is the work that we do to build trust. It is important to me that I offer a space where you feel like you may explain the complex emotions you are feeling without feeling judged or offered solutions, instead of compassionate understanding. I have 3 years experience providing therapy to both teens 13+ and adults , and take joy in any transformation possible through the use of tools and talk therapy. I draw from mindfulness, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Somatic Psychotherapy to help my clients gain the skills and resources they need. I support all of my clients with generalized anxiety, social anxiety, depression, identity exploration, and communication challenges, with a focus on special populations (learning disabilities, ADHD, Autism). I understand how hard it can be to find the right therapist. I wish to make that choice easier by being absolutely transparent and genuine in all our correspondence. For teens, when we get started I meet with the parent(s) first for a session, then I connect with your teen. Once we start working together, their sessions become confidential and part of the trust-building process between your child and myself. For all clients, I hold no secrets on any approach I use, and always provide a clear guideline for the session so there are no surprises. Therapy can have a lasting effect on how you view the world, offer comfort in a time of emotional and physical challenges, and give you a space to say the things that are making you feel lost, hurt, disconnected, or alone in the world. As a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), my areas of focus include but are not limited to: Anxiety Issues for Teens and Adults | Childhood Trauma | Teen Therapy | Support for Parents | Life Transitions | Stress
