About Meredith
Meredith Daun (she/her) is a Registered Social Worker with nearly 25 years of experience in the field. Known for applying a human rights lens to all of her work, she is dedicated to fostering a supportive and healing space for individuals, using a strengths-based and person-centered approach. Meredith draws upon experience working for provincial government programs as well as the non-profit sector, in both rural and urban centers. Meredith has provided assistance to refugees in Canada as well as in other host countries.
Philosophy
Meredith believes that by walking alongside clients through their journey, they empower themselves to find a balanced life where they can meet their best possible outcomes. Committed to meeting individuals where they are, Meredith supports clients as they explore their values, leading to an enhanced quality of life regardless of the challenges they encounter. She is also a supportive ally of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
Therapeutic Approach
Known for being warm, empathic, and non-judgmental, Meredith focuses on being client-centered, strengths-based, and tailors her approach to meet the unique needs of each client. Meredith has been called 'stoic' in the past and also really appreciates the use of humour in her day-to-day life. She believes in supporting clients by using their own strengths to find a pathway forward. Meredith applies a systems/ecological perspective and helps clients develop the skills and tools to help them when required, thus setting them up for success.
Focus Areas
In her practice, Meredith's expertise focuses on stress management, grief/ambiguous loss, navigating life transitions, inclusion, disability, and general counselling. Meredith has supported people recovering from natural disasters. She is particularly adept at person-centered planning, identifying what is important to an individual (motivational interviewing), and helping clients create a pathway forward (solution-focused brief therapy). She works towards helping individuals realize their goals with strategies that work for the individual.
