About Matthew
Matthew graduated from McMaster University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Physiotherapy. Following graduation he has taken over 50 post graduate courses. This has resulted in certification by the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada in 2001. He received his Diploma of Advanced Manual and Manipulative Therapy in 2003 and is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy. In 2012 Matthew became a certified practitioner of Gunn intramuscular stimulation (IMS). He has also trained in vestibular rehabilitation, running injury treatment and fascial work. Matthew has served as a preceptor for McMaster University physiotherapy residents every year since his graduation, overseeing dozens of students. In addition, he has served as a clinical tutor numerous times at the university. Matthew is also a mentor with the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association mentoring Physiotherapists seeking to achieve the FCAMPT designation. He has a strong working relationship with local physicians and surgeons in Brantford and the surrounding area. Matthew works in close collaboration with Dr. Laurie McLaughlin to help manage clients that have low back pain but are not surgical candidates. Matthew’s clinical interests include chronic low back pain, shoulder pain, and sports injuries. Outside of work, Matthew enjoys friendly and provincial competition as a member of Crossfit COL as well as trail running. He lives locally with his wife Vicki and their two children; Madelaine, a competitive dancer and Max, a competitive basketball player.
