Mathew’s lifelong passion for health and well-being led him to pursue a career in massage therapy, and graduating from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy.
Throughout his training, he gained extensive experience treating a wide range of conditions, including sprains, strains, tendinitis, frozen shoulder, whiplash, disc herniations, nerve compression, and fibromyalgia. Mathew also dedicated time to outreach programs, assisting rehabilitation center patients with spinal cord injuries, further enhancing his skill set and understanding of holistic care.
Deeply committed to the philosophy that the mind and body are intrinsically linked, Mathew recognizes that discomfort in one area of life can ripple through to others. He believes that creating a calming and safe environment is essential for healing to commence.
His approach combines Swedish massage with various advanced techniques, such as trigger point release, myofascial release, joint mobilizations, and both active and passive stretching. This integrative approach allows Mathew to achieve effective results tailored to each client’s unique needs. To promote ongoing well-being, he also develops customized post- treatment plans that empower clients on their journey to health.
Outside of his professional life, Mathew enjoys an active lifestyle that includes hiking, surfing, biking, and yoga, as well as maintaining strength at the gym. Recently relocating to the Victoria, he is eager to explore the natural beauty of his new surroundings and connect with the local community. With a dedication to improving the lives of others through massage therapy, Mathew is excited to make a positive impact in his new home.
Xian does not do relaxation massage. His sessions are a mix of deep tissue massage/myofascial release and Rolfing techniques. Please see the Rolfing section for a more in depth description.
