Maria graduated from Queen’s University in 2019. Prior to completing her physiotherapy education, Maria completed her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at York University in 2016. Maria has clinical experiences in orthopedic conditions, gait analysis and pelvic floor health. Maria has experiences in complex acute medicine, ICU, acute stroke, orthopedic and inpatient rehab units specializing in geriatrics, complex cardiorespiratory dysfunctions, medical complications and diverse neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, stroke, traumatic brain injuries, neurological deficits due to cancer and prolonged ICU stay. Maria also worked as a registered massage therapist for 11 years and an exercise specialist for 4 years where she has gained extensive manual therapy, exercise and gait analysis experience.
In 2020, Maria was recognized as the physiotherapy lead at Mackenzie Health Hospital for her work as a clinician, student preceptor, initiator and team supporter.
Over the course of her work and educational career Maria has developed a passion for helping others achieve and recognize their functional abilities. Maria has a special interest for pelvic health and its impact on athletes and daily functions, neurological conditions, balance and gait training. Her vision is to apply a diverse and creative individualized treatment approach to improve mobility and quality of life.
Growing up, Maria was a professional Track and Field athlete competing in long jump, hurdles, triple jump and pole vault both in Israel and Canada. Her active lifestyle has led her on the path to physiotherapy. She also has a passion for dancing, volleyball and more recently triathlon training. Always up for a challenge and learning new things. Maria enjoys exploring the great outdoors, callestanics, strength training, pilates and remaining physically active regardless of the weather. Fun fact, Maria is fluent in Russian and Hebrew, she is also able to understand some Italian she has learnt while working at Mackenzie Health Hospital. Maria’s interests spill into her passion of being a physiotherapist and working with others.
