Accepting New Clients in September Hi! I’m Mackayla, and I am a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology student on my journey to becoming a registered psychotherapist. I support clients facing challenges with neurodiversity, disabilities, identity, relationships, perfectionism, people-pleasing, and self-esteem. As someone with AuDHD, who is in therapy myself, I recognize the challenges associated with trying to navigate a neurotypical world and the therapeutic process. Having worked extensively with individuals living with various intellectual/developmental disabilities, as well as a range of mental health diagnoses, I understand the importance of a collaborative, person-centred, and integrated approach. Every individual I have supported has possessed unique strengths; you just need to know how to look! I believe therapy should be authentic, flexible, empowering, and individualized, and I am deeply passionate about making this your experience! I draw from evidence-based modalities such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Child Psychology through the University of Windsor and am currently a graduate student at Yorkville University. I am a student member with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). While I have not completed any further specialized training, I intend to continually further my knowledge and skills so that I can better support my clients!
