About Liza
Has becoming a parent, or trying to become one, not gone the way you expected? Whether you're navigating postpartum depression, working through pregnancy or infant loss, or the grief of infertility, these experiences often come with an unspoken pressure to just be grateful, leaving little room to actually feel what you're feeling.
As a retired midwife with fifteen years of experience supporting expecting families through pregnancy, birth, and new parenthood, I've walked alongside people through some of the hardest and most tender moments of this journey. I bring that medical background directly into my therapy practice, understanding both the emotional and physical realities you're navigating.
I also work with adults, women and men alike, who struggle with obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviours that take up more space in their life than they'd like. If unwanted thoughts keep looping no matter how hard you try to reason your way out of them, or you've built rituals to manage anxiety that are starting to feel exhausting, this is work I find genuinely rewarding to do.
For those navigating cancer, stroke recovery, or other significant medical diagnoses, I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help make room for what can't be changed about a diagnosis or its aftermath, while still building a life that feels worth living around it.
As Hope Harbour's only therapist with a Master of Social Work (MSW), I bring a systems-level lens to this work, understanding not just what's happening for you individually, but how family, medical systems, and life circumstances are shaping your experience too.
If this resonates, reach out to Alysha, our Intake Coordinator, for a free 20-minute consultation to see if I would be the right fit.
