About Lindsay

Lindsay has worked in the counselling field for over 15 years and has been a registered psychologist since 2013. She has worked with people from diverse cultural backgrounds in several roles during this time. She lived in Slave Lake, AB, during the wildfire natural disaster in 2011 while completing her formal training to become a registered Psychologist. In this role, she provided counselling to the surrounding Indigenous communities and residents of Slave Lake. She has supported children, adolescents and adults experiencing a range of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, and grief and loss. She values the innate uniqueness and wisdom of each person and our shared needs for safety, community and connection. Her counselling approach is informed by these values and a commitment to offering a compassionate and respectful relationship in therapy. Her curiosity and appreciation for the need we each have to heal in ways that best fit for ourself has led her towards using an integrative therapy approach. Her formal education consists of a Masters in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and a Bachelor of Science from Dalhousie University. Her areas of special interest include grief/loss, death/dying and intergenerational trauma. Over the past few years she has been studying the the area of transpersonal psychology which explores depth psychology, creativity, consciousnesses research and psycho-spiritual aspects of health and healing. She draws from various modalities, including Expressive Art Therapy, solution-focused therapy, Psychodynamic, Narrative, Mindfulness and CBT-based therapies. She is a registered psychologist in Alberta and Nova Scotia.
