About Leah
Boozhoo, Aniin. I'm Leah Lychowyd, MA, RP, RCC, a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) living in Thunder Bay in Northwestern Ontario. I am a member of Red Rock Indian Band. I am specifically trained in working with Indigenous peoples including First Nations, Métis and Inuit. I am offering virtual/remote sessions at this time primarily to people in BC and Ontario as well as in person in Indigenous communities.
I graduated from the University of Victoria in the M.A. in Indigenous Communities Counselling Psychology program in 2016 and has worked with Indigenous peoples in healthcare and education before launching Waawaate Counselling & Psychotherapy.
I walk alongside individuals with navigating their complex inner experience with a focus on anxiety, trauma, and indigenous identity. I work from a culturally grounded, strengths based, trauma informed perspective. I am trained in a variety of modalities including EMDR, CBT, DBT, mindfulness based modalities, and storywork/narrative therapy.
If you are experiencing a dysregulated nervous system, anxiety, trauma (complex & intergenerational) or an overall feeling of a lack of belonging, I would be honoured to hear your story. If you are looking to cultivate inner calm and peace and feel grounded and more connected with yourself and your life, book an intake session to see if I can be helpful to you.
