About Lara
Hi, I’m Lara, a Registered Social Worker with the Manitoba College of Social Workers. I hold a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Manitoba and a Master of Social Work from the University of Calgary. I am a first generation immigrant from the Philippines.
I believe that people already carry strengths, insight, and resilience—even when life feels overwhelming or uncertain. My role is to help you reconnect with those strengths while offering practical support, compassionate listening, and space to explore what’s getting in the way.
I work from a strengths-based, person-centred, and trauma-informed approach, supporting youth and young adults (ages 16–29) who may be navigating anxiety, emotional stress, eating disorder recovery, identity exploration, or major life transitions. I also bring experience working alongside immigrant and refugee youth, with a deep respect for cultural identity, lived experience, and the challenges that come with adaptation and change.
In our work together, I focus on building a strong therapeutic relationship grounded in trust, empathy, and collaboration. Sessions often include gentle problem-solving, goal-setting, and psychoeducation—always at a pace that feels supportive and aligned with your needs. I strive to create a non-judgmental, affirming space where you can speak openly, feel heard, and explore both challenges and possibilities.
People often come to me when they’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of their next steps. Together, we can work toward greater emotional balance, self-understanding, and confidence in navigating life’s complexities. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach—our work is shaped by your values, culture, and goals.
I would be honoured to walk alongside you on your journey.
