Now Accepting Clients Hi, I’m Katlyn. I am a dedicated educator and counsellor with a passion for supporting children’s mental health and well-being. I hold an undergraduate degree in English and History from Redeemer University, a Bachelor of Education from Brock University, and am currently completing my Master’s in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. With 13 years of experience teaching elementary students in Canada and internationally, I bring a deep understanding of child development, learning challenges, and emotional well-being into my counselling approach. I have also worked with children in a variety of settings, including community programs, day camps, outreach initiatives, and library programs. I have specialized training in Adoption Competency, equipping me to support children who have been adopted or are in foster care, particularly those navigating trauma and loss. I take a whole-child approach, meeting children where they are and helping them build confidence, independence, and self-awareness. I work closely with parents to ensure that the strategies children learn in sessions can be supported at home and at school. I believe that counselling is one piece of a broader support system and value collaboration with families to help children thrive in all areas of life. With my background in education, I offer unique insights and creative strategies to help children navigate academic, emotional, and social challenges. I value a compassionate, child-centered approach that allows students to feel safe, respected, and understood. Outside of my professional work, I have served in teaching and volunteer roles for many years, including time as a teacher and librarian in faith-based schools, and as a long-time volunteer in community and church programs. I believe that supportive, caring environments—whether at home, in school, or in the community—play a powerful role in helping children grow into their full potential.
