About Karolien

Karolien moved from Belgium to Vancouver Island in 2015 to pursue an outdoor lifestyle and live in closer connection to nature. Her name is pronounced ‘Caroleen’, but feel free to call her Karo.
As a Registered Clinical Counsellor, Karolien works with individuals (age 14+) and couples navigating life's challenges. Taking a holistic approach, she recognizes how interconnected our mental and physical health, relationships, and environment can be. For Karolien, healing usually involves a balance of mind, body and environment. Recognizing that each person's journey is unique, Karolien personally values the role nature, exercise, and meaningful connection play in fostering resilience and well-being.
Karolien helps her clients build on their inner strengths and resources and find practical paths to change. Her approach is rooted in authenticity, humour, and a compassionate directness that makes clients feel supported and empowered.
Outside of her work, Karolien enjoys spending time outdoors, accompanied by her two dogs, exploring the forests, beaches and lakes of this beautiful island she now calls home.
