About Karen
###Meet Karen
###Adolescent & Adult Therapist
I am a Registered Social Worker with over 20 years of experience supporting individuals in both community and in-patient mental health settings. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work, a Bachelor of Social Work, and a Bachelor of Arts. Throughout my career, I have been continually humbled by the strength and resiliency of the human spirit, and I consider it a deep privilege to accompany people on their healing journey.
My approach is client-centered, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that therapy should feel safe, respectful, and empowering. I strive to build strong therapeutic relationships that create space for reflection, self-discovery, and meaningful change.
I work primarily with adolescents and adults and have a special interest in supporting clients navigating anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, stress, anger or aggression, risky behaviors, relationship challenges, and BIPOC-specific concerns. As a BIPOC clinician myself, I bring a culturally responsive and anti-oppressive lens to my work, with a deep appreciation for the impact of intersectionality, identity, and systemic experiences on mental health.
I use an eclectic and holistic approach because I believe each person’s story is unique, as there is no one-size-fits-all model. I draw on a range of evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). I am also certified as a Sex Therapy Informed Clinician, and support clients in exploring intimacy, identity, and sexual wellness with compassion and care.
I offer in-person sessions on weekends and virtual sessions during evenings and weekends to help meet you where you're at, both in life and location. I look forward to working with you.
