I teach as an act of political liberation and make changes in the systems that I am both familiar with and tired of. While I didn’t end up studying a field directly related to a helping profession, I have been a point of contact for friends, family, and community members for 9 years with a knack for **navigating systems of bureaucracy and making institutional communications and processes less overwhelming.* Together, we can unpack ableism, institutional paperwork, executive functioning, and whatever else you might need from a peer that understands what *you go through. I’ve been advocating for myself within medical systems for 15 years and learning how to exist in higher education spaces for 8 years and counting. I grew up with chronic mental health conditions and now experience compound chronic illness and well-managed, yet complex neurodivergence as an adult student. These entangled states of being render me dependant on my own scrappiness and an aptitude for navigating the systems I depend on. While my own lived experience stems from the context of Ontario, I am always willing to learn and research to help my community across Canada. I am a disabled, genderqueer, AuDHD, and white settler living near Toronto, ON, with a Spec. Hons. BA in English and Professional Writing, and a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies (English, Media and Communications, Gender Studies). My special interests include cooking, reading, writing, web design, geography, cats, and video games.
