After graduating in 2003 I began my career with an opportunity to do corporate chair massage at City Hall. In the 12 years there I was able to explore chair massage instead of table and quickly learned of it's effectiveness. Chair massage is a great tool to focus massage on the arms, shoulders, neck/scalp, back and posterior hips. Working through clothing helped me to develop and add many different techniques into my massage. Shortly afterward I started working at one of Calgary's first peri-natal clinics, The Centre for Family Well-being. This was the experience that truly shaped my career and who I am as a practitioner. The mentorship I received by all of the amazing women there was a shining example of community. It was lovely to explore a Holistic approach to peri-natal massage and witness the positive effects. I came to see how helpful massage is at easing the ever-changing body during pregnancy, birthing and beyond. I so enjoyed my 15 years in this specialized field and now take the knowledge and experience with me. In 2018 while looking into energy healing modalities I came across Healing Touch, which was developed by a Holistic Nurse who was recognizing gaps in hospital care. That intrigued me. I appreciated the scientific approach that bridged into energy work and the positive stories of supportiveness to those in the hospitals. Again, I was blessed with a wonderful teacher and mentor who embodies the aspects of gentle yet strong, she is a force of good in the world. Learning to work in the realm of light or no touch healing was quite the shift after years of therapeutic massage. I adore this work and have seen the most amazing shifts in people on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of their being after clearing and connecting the chakras and energy fields of the body. Healing Touch is described as an "effortless effort", gentle but powerful and provides a beautiful path within sacred space to explore a deeper awareness of oneself. This is all such a beautiful work and I feel so blessed to be a part of it.
