About Jessica

Jessica received her Bachelor of Kinesiology (B.Kin) from Simon Fraser University in Spring 2022, and is currently a practicing member of the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK). Jessica started powerlifting in 2019 and has competed and placed in IPF-sanctioned powerlifting events. Powerlifting is a strength sport where the goal is to lift the heaviest weight in the barbell squat, bench, and deadlift. She enjoys powerlifting due to it being an individual sport where you focus on being stronger than you were previously. This internal drive for self-improvement is rewarding for her. Jessica’s specialty is in strength training, and she has worked with various clients in a gym setting as a certified personal trainer. She enjoys coaching people on lifting safely with correct technique, while gaining confidence inside and outside the gym. As a kinesiologist, Jessica has helped patients rehabilitate through a wide variety of musculoskeletal injuries, whether they be sustained through motor vehicle accidents, workplace accidents, sports, or activities of daily life. She can also speak Mandarin, allowing her to connect to a greater number of patients. Outside of the clinic, Jessica enjoys working out in the gym, walking her dogs, and doing martial arts. She practices Choy Lee Fut, a southern style of kung fu. She is also very involved in lion dancing and dragon dancing around Chinatown, and has recently gotten into Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as well.

I have nothing but amazing things to say about the team at Aquarius. First and foremost Annie the receptionist is so kind and professional, always putting care and concern of the clients first with a personal touch and a kind smile and laugh. Jessica the kinesiologist has been instrumental in my recovery and getting back to my full physical health and balance. She always meets me where I’m at and shares her knowledge and experience in order to help me achieve my goals. Jess constantly meets me with kindness and understating, always willing to crack a smile at my terrible jokes and laugh with me when I’m trying something new in my program and I mess it up… it’s quit humorous. Justin Shing is my physio and he is very transparent, honest, supportive and has had a huge part in helping me to regain motivation in using my body and getting it back in working order. This clinic and team is simply amazing… if you need a great health team this clinic is for you, and if you go elsewhere it’s a mistake. Unless you go to Kerrisdale Physiotherapy… then that’s ok.
